CIEH Certificate in Principles of Manual Handling

Duration: 1/2 day including multiple-choice exam

 

Course introduction

This course is designed for all employees who handle materials, boxes, mail and packages, including both industrial and office workers.

This qualification introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what to expect from a manual handling assessment. It will enable employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks in the workplace

This qualification complements the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the workplace.

Aimed at those who carry out manual handling at work, it introduces candidates to the risks of manual handling and the controls available.

The holder of the CIEH Certificate in Principles of Manual Handling will:

• To identify the hazards associated with manual handling.
• To identify the risks involved and controls available.
• To identify what to expect from a manual handling assessment.

• The process of manual handling
• Manual handling injuries and the activities which cause them
• Manual handling assessment and controls options
• Responsibilities imposed by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations
